Day 79 - Ipanema Beach

So, the last 4 days have been pretty rubbish. Since the pride march, the heavens have been opened - constantly. Its grey and rainy and there is VERY little to do in Rio when it rains except watch hollywood movies dubbed in Portuguese, write postcards or play cards. DULL.



Thing is, you don't wanna go out, because you don't want to take photos of grey skys. This place SUITS the sunshine, so we've been saving ourselves for 4 days to go to Ipanema when the sun finally comes out. But today, after 5 days of rain and grey, we decided we HAD to just do it, regardless of mother nature.



The beach is beautiful, the backdrop is stunning, and I looked GREAT in my speedos. Bought specially to 'fit in' with the locals, its a damn shame there wasn't a single other person out to pay me any attention, except the surfers (who had bigger things on their mind).



We're talking about going to an 'island paradise' 3 hours down the coast tomorrow, where we can swim in a river. But apparently there is NOTHING to do when it rains (much like here), so we're putting the decision off until the morning. Needless to say, if the sun shows its face, I'm on that beach in my speedos in a flash.
